Remembering actor Michael Landon (1936-1991), who passed away 27 years ago today 😞🙏🏼💖. Landon decided to pursue acting after an injury derailed his college athletic scholarship. Making his professional debut on a 1955 television program, he appeared in a few minor films and even recorded a few songs during the early years of his career. He eventually starred (and produced, co-wrote, and directed episodes) in 3 hit series: “Bonanza”, “Little House on the Prairie”, and “Highway to Heaven”. For me he was an amazing actor who I always think of fondly, especially in “Little House on the Prairie” as Pa Ingalls. Sometimes the episodes break my heart, but it just doesn’t get much better than that series 💖💖💖. Landon was married 3 times, divorced twice, and had 9 children. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 1991, he faced his illness courageously. I was only in middle school, but I clearly remember the episode of “The Tonight Show” where he spoke to Johnny Carson (1925-2005) about his illness. Sadly, he succumbed to the disease that summer 😞🙏🏼💖. He was just 54 years old 😞🙏🏼💖. #michaellandon #rip #gonetoosoon #gonebutnotforgotten #gonebutneverforgotten #oldhollywood #classichollywood #vintagehollywood #classicactor #vintageactor #classictv #vintagetv #classictelevision #vintagetelevision #bonanza #littlehouseontheprairie #highwaytoheaven #theydontmakeemlikethatanymore
Currently, each of them is making their own life, Jennifer as an actress and Sean in real estate development. Both admitted that growing up without a father was quite difficult.
Sean and Jennifer stay connected to their father in a very peculiar way. Both are ambassadors of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, to raise awareness about the disease that ended their father's life.
They said that the fight against pancreatic cancer will always be important to them. Cheryl wrote the book hoping her father's story would inspire many, just as it was for her family and friends. According to his daughter, the actor knew how to turn their problems into challenges.
Cheryl will always remember her father for his incredible power to love, and he wants his story to help all people find the same strength as him. The charismatic Michael died at 54 due to pancreatic cancer but will always remain in our memories for his famous characters.
Christopher Landon, one of Michael's sons, is a film writer known for the "Paranormal Activity" movies. As an openly gay man, he has been living his life next to husband Cody Morris and their son, Beau Landon Morris. Since Christopher and Cody chose to keep their own last names, they decided that their son should have both.
As a filmmaker, Christopher has been very successful in the entertainment industry, just as his late father. He made his directorial debut with "Burning Palms," a satirical thriller that premiered in 2010.
