Colorado School Shooting Suspects Charged With Murder
The two teenage suspects arrested in connection with a shooting spree at a STEM school in Colorado will be charged as adults. They appeared in court today.
As reported by CNN, Devon Michael Erickson, 18, and the 16-year-old Alec McKinney are charged with 48 counts, including murder, attempted murder, and gun charges.
The court ruled that 16-year-old McKinney will be tried as an adult, and both suspects made their first appearance in the Douglas County Courthouse today.

The presiding judge ordered that both suspects be held without bond while the investigation continues. It's still too early to say if prosecutors will call for the death penalty.
The duo opened fire at the STEM School Highlands Ranch in Colorado near Denver earlier this month. One student died and eight were injured.
I declare today Kendrick Castillo Day in Colorado as we remember the life of the 18-year-old hero who died saving others in last week's STEM School shooting in Highlands Ranch.— Jared Polis (@GovofCO) May 15, 2019

Kendrick Castillo, a student who would have graduated in three days, spent his final moments trying to stop the attack and saved his friends by lunging his body at the gunmen.
His memorial service was held today, on the same day the gunmen appeared in court. The Colorado governor, Jared Polis, declared today as national Kendrick Castillo Day in his honor.
