The Dangers of Football
Football players are more prone to brain injuries and conditions due to the physicality of the sport. For one kid, his dreams of ever reaching the pros never came to light because of a brain injury that took his life.
Dylan Thomas was a 17-year-old high school football player from Pike County High School, who passed away due to a severe brain injury he obtained during a game.
The football player was in a game against the Peach County Trojans when he collided head-on with an opponent.
Succumbing to Injuries
After the impact, he was able to get back on the field until realizing he wasn't feeling well. Soon after, he was on the bench with his left arm and leg going numb.
When Thomas collapsed, he was airlifted from the field to the hospital, where he underwent two surgeries to try and relieve the swelling of his brain. The young boy fell into a coma and ended up in very critical condition.
Unfortunately, Thomas succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Rest In Peace Neiron and Dylan.
