Diahann Carroll's Daughter Thanks Tyler Perry & Says Kerry Washington Reminds Her of Mom
Some legendary actors actively awaken black consciousness in the world, and Diahann Carroll was one of them. The world lost a true diva on the 4th of October, 2019.
Carroll died after a long battle against cancer at the age of 84, as noted by Essence. The famous actress was renowned for her iconic role as Julia Baker in NBC series in which she won a Golden Globe Award.
Also, she has been nominated for one Oscar and four Emmy Awards.
Carroll is survived by her only child, Suzanne Kay, who was born in 1960 from her first union to Monte Kay, according to reports by Inquisitr.
Suzanne's career is almost as remarkable as her mother's, as she settled well in the entertainment industry.
Celebrities like Kerry Washington and Tyler Perry, who knew her late mother sent their condolences to Suzanne, 59.
Kerry thanked the deceased actress for her influence in her life, according to her caption on Instagram.
Filmmaker mogul, Tyler Perry, honored Carroll by letting the late icon's name live on in Tyler Perry Studios, as seen on Instagram.
In response, Suzanne thanked the stars in two Instagram posts. In her first post which she dedicated to Kerry, the sentimental caption read:
"@kerrywashington reminds me of mom! Not just her talent and sense of fashion, but her commitment to speak truth. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾"
Kerry and Carroll stood side by side, holding hands and smiling in the photo uploaded by Suzanne.
She thanked Perry for the "beautiful things" he stated about the late Carroll, as disclosed on Instagram.

Thank you @tylerperry for your beautiful remarks below... In less than 24 hours I was scheduled to dedicate a sound stage at my new studio to Diahann Carroll. As I sat reviewing her video tribute, I got a request to call her daughter when she told me of her Mother’s passing. I did what I could to try and comfort her in this difficult time, but I know no words could soothe, however I prayed that it would. I hung up the phone and sat back for a moment and was about to be overcome with sadness. Just as that was about to happen, I received a wave of gratitude. I was so thankful in my soul because I got to be on the planet at the same time as this barrier breaking, race shattering, mythical beauty, that will forever be Diahann Carroll. Thank you Ms. Carroll for how you showed the world that black people are special, strong, beautiful and powerful. I know you will live on in our hearts, but I’m so glad to know that your name will live on at Stage 5 at Tyler Perry Studios. Thank you for letting me honor you, and thank you for lending your legend to my studio to inspire generations to come. Rest well, as I know you are traveling to heaven on a first class cloud. You wouldn’t have had it any other way. God bless you. Love to your family.
“We are honored to have shared this planet with Diahann Carroll."
Perry boldly made the statement in the presence of political and entertainment dignitaries like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Samuel L. Jackson, Blair Underwood, Taraji P. Henson, ex NFL quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, and Tiffany Haddish. May her gentle soul rest in peace!
