Nick Cannon Breaks His Silence After Orlando Brown Claimed They Had an Intimate Encounter

Nick Cannon responded to Brown's claims by making it a "teaching moment" about mental health and blaming the media for its "cannibalistic tactics."

Nick Cannon had the best intentions when he responded to Orlando Brown’s claims of an intimate encounter between them. Instead of clapping back, he chose to make it a “teaching moment.”

Cannon took to his social media this week, breaking his silence after Brown released a video with claims that shook Twitter on Wednesday. According to the former “That’s So Raven” star, Cannon performed oral sex on him as a female.

SHINING THE LIGHT ON MENTAL HEALTH

Initially thinking the claims were hilarious, Cannon turned serious when he spoke up, not to defend himself,  but to redirect audiences to the issue of mental health.

“For us to continue to post slander and tear one another down for click bait to make these white supremacy propagated platforms more money is asinine and deplorable."

Cannon’s lengthy message (in full below) was attached to a screenshot of an iHeartRadio headline featuring Brown’s allegations. He began by suggesting Brown grew up lacking in support system after gaining popularity as a young star in show business. He claims all he sees in Brown’s video is a “cry for help” and prays he would not be “another lost victim of Hollywood circumstances.”

ON THE ROLE OF SHOW BUSINESS

Cannon praised Brown’s talent as an actor though he admits he doesn’t personally know him. He adds that he could be an asset to his show, “Wild ’N Out” but emphasized that this was not the way to audition.

Cannon blames show business for not looking after their child stars after making millions off of them. He believes their lack of attention turned them astray, leading them to turn to substance abuse and resulting in psychiatric disorders.

ON THE MEDIA'S ACCOUNTABILITY

But among all the parties responsible for Brown’s actions, Cannon believes the one most to blame is the media. He writes,

“For us to continue to post slander and tear one another down for click bait to make these white supremacy propagated platforms more money is asinine and deplorable. These cannibalistic tactics only destroy “Us”.

Cannon’s point at the end of his message is that nobody wins. The stories may circulate and even generate a lot of attention and laughs, but, he poses the question, ”does it truly make you feel good???.” To this, he says,  “I hold @iheartradio @complex @worldstar accountable!…”

When I first saw this I thought it was fucking hilarious!!!! 🤣🍆💦😂😂😂 But then after putting a little cognitive effort and analytical thought to the situation,I figured what a great opportunity for a “teachable moment”! First off let me say I am praying for the young brother Orlando even though I don’t really know him personally, I have always loved and enjoyed his talent and have been a fan of his past work. He was fucking brilliant in Major Payne, and had us all laughing on “Thats So Raven”. But this is another crucial example of when we allow our young artists to be prematurely exposed by this demonic business and left out to fend for themselves. We need better support systems for our youth and take care of our own. I watched various of this young brothers videos and all I see is a cry out for help. So I don’t know if there are any real leaders or solid individuals in this young man’s life but let’s embrace him and tighten him up so he doesn’t become another lost victim to these hollywood circumstances. I indeed believe this brother has the God given talent to be on Wildnout but this definitely ain’t the way to audition, this actually hurts my heart to see that we have allowed Orlando, along with various other young gifted performers we grew up loving, to just dwindle away after these corporations made their billions off of them. Now due to substance abuse and diagnosed psychiatric disorders our loved ones are now aimlessly begging for the attention they were once given , instead of the help they actually need. All while we sit back and just laugh... The most irresponsible parties involved in all of this is our media, specifically the “culturally conscious”. For us to continue to post slander and tear one another down for click bait to make these white supremacy propagated platforms more money is asinine and deplorable. These cannibalistic tactics only destroy “Us”. Really, in post like this, who wins??? We might chuckle, joke, pass the gossip on through our low frequency vibrations but does it truly make you feel good??? Especially knowing that there are higher powers looking down at you. So I hold @iheartradio @complex @worldstar accountable!...

BROWN'S QUESTIONABLE BEHAVIOR

Brown recorded his 34-second black-and-white clip while walking inside a Walmart store. In it, he boldly proclaimed, ”Nick, sucked my d***” repeatedly. He also claimed Cannon performed the act as a female. The clip went viral after appearing on World Star.

This isn’t the first time Brown made sexual claims that his alleged partner denied. In the past, he claimed he had a sexual relationship with his co-star Raven Symone and even dedicated a tattoo on his chest and neck to her. Symone denied having any involvement with Brown.

In 2018, Brown checked into a rehab facility after he was arrested for the possession of methamphetamine. His arrest also led to the discovery that he had an ongoing domestic violence warrant.  During his stint on rehab, Brown guested on "Dr. Phil" to seek help for his mental health issues.
