Angelica Ross of 'Pose' Rocks Natural Afro as She Becomes Face of New Louis Vuitton Campaign

Angelica Ross of “Pose” is the face of a new Louis Vuitton campaign, and she was delighted to rock her natural afro for it.

On Twitter, Angelica Ross proudly revealed the Louis Vuitton 2020 pre-fall collection which featured her and her natural hair in the luxury brand’s latest pieces.

The campaign, entitled “The Escape Room,” gives off an old-school type of vibe as she sits on a chair in a tiled room.

Her being cast as the model for Louis Vuitton opens many doors for the LGBTQ community, and it allows for better visibility and representation for them.

LOUIS VUITTON EMBRACES NATURAL BEAUTY

In a follow-up tweet, Angelica revealed that she personally asked the Louis Vuitton team if she could rock her natural hair in a big afro, and they responded with an enthusiastic “YES,” which she was delighted to hear.

Known for her role in “Pose” she is now the newest face of Louis Vuitton’s ad campaign. In part, the ad reads: “When the future knocks, open the door!”

OPENING THE DOOR FOR THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY

Indeed, the future is looking bright for Angelica Ross and the LGBTQ community, as her being cast as the model for Louis Vuitton opens many doors for the LGBTQ community, and it allows for better visibility and representation for them.

Personally, however, acceptance did not come easy for Angelica. In fact, it took her mom some convincing from “The Oprah Winfrey Show” to finally accept her sexuality.

I neither hide nor deny, or run away from my past. Every single step I've taken has brought me here, closer than I've ever felt to fully expressing the gift that is my life. And despite the attempts on my life, my own hands included, I'm #ALIVE. I'm blessed and forever grateful to discover my value and strength. I'm stronger than I thought and survived it all. Despite my physical condition on any given day, my soul smiles, because I "Know" myself in a biblical sense. I have learned to love myself from Beginning to End. I now know my life is valuable and worthy of protection, of love, and respect. I don't regret enlisting in the #Navy, to me it's part proof that I and many other #Trans and #LGBTQ people now and then, are willing to fight for our #Freedom(s) just as much as the next person, if given the opportunity to "Be All We Can Be" #transformationtuesday #veteran #Military #GirlsLikeUs #MissRoss #BeautifulAsIWantToBe #repost

HER JOURNEY TOWARDS ACCEPTANCE

When Ross came out to her mom, she did not accept it and it caused a rift between the two. At the time, she was 17-years-old and the thought of having a transgender child was not something she could accept at the time.

However, it all changed when she watched an episode of Oprah Winfrey’s hit show, which was an episode featuring a mother who had just lost her LGBTQ son.

OPRAH WINFREY'S IMPACT ON HER MOTHER'S PERSPECTIVE

Thanks to the episode, Angelica’s mom felt the need to reach out and fix their relationship. After years of work and dedication towards ensuring they are always in a good relationship with one another, this is how she would describe it:

“My mother and I have a very loving and healed relationship.”

Now, Angelica Ross is living the life, inspiring and holding down the fort for the black LGBTQ community.
