Nicole, who resides in Worthing, West Sussex, has been creating content online since March 2024. Her honest portrayal of her daily life quickly amassed a following of over 19,000. However, with this visibility came criticism and trolling.

The situation escalated when a TikTok user reported Nicole to the police, claiming her messy house was indicative of child neglect. However, the visit from the police has sparked a wave of support for Nicole, with many rallying in her support.

Nicole described the harrowing experience in a TikTok video in early June. "One of you guys sent the police to our door. You heard me, yes. [You] sent the police to our door for a children's welfare check," she explained.

"They came under the grounds of child neglect. I can't believe it, I'm gobsmacked. The police knocking on our door at 8:00 at night whilst our children are in bed trying to go to sleep," she continued.

The police spent nearly two hours examining the living conditions and speaking with each child at Nicole's home. "Do you guys understand how traumatizing that is for my children? We've had our house raided twice. We've gone through a lot," she mused.

"We've had multiple referrals to social services. We've now obviously had the police come to our door. Now luckily, they checked our children who were tucked up in bed in a tiny bedroom in a bit of a messy but clean home — a normal household," she further stated.

Despite the lengthy and invasive check, the officers found no cause for concern. They reassured Nicole by taking her phone number for future reference, should similar reports occur again.

However, the incident left a lasting impact on the family. "It was traumatizing. It was horrific. I was so scared and so upset and so shaken. None of my children went to bed until gone 10:00 p.m. on a school night because the police were in our house," Nicole recounted.

Nicole's TikTok videos often document the chaos of her daily life, including the challenges of keeping a house tidy with four children. In May 2024, she shared a video showing the state of her home and explaining her situation.

"We will get so much hate for this video but we need your help! Please engage, please follow. We will take you along on our journey with us. We will be recording the repairs, the painting, and DIY. It's going to be a complete transformation [sic]!" she said in the caption.

In the video, Nicole detailed how her abusive ex had left the house in disarray before she moved in with her children. The video showed laundry covering the hallway, toys scattered in the living room, and dishes piled up in the kitchen.

The bedrooms were also cluttered, reflecting the difficulty of managing a two-bedroom house for six people. Despite these challenges, Nicole remained determined to improve her home's condition. And while her husband, who works full-time, also helps with the children, the task of keeping the house in order often falls on Nicole.

She shared her plans to declutter and renovate their home to make it more livable for their children. "We are aware that the mess is on us. However, four kids in a two-bed [house] is a lot of stuff with nowhere to put it. We plan on changing this," she explained.

In response to comments questioning the police's prolonged presence, Nicole clarified the situation in another video. She explained that the officers took time to speak with each child individually, check the house for adequate food, and ensure the children's well-being.

Nicole noted how it took the police considerable time to speak to and record her children's statements regarding the allegations made. Her house also had poor signals, so the officers had to stand by the front door every time they needed to contact the authorities.

The young mother continued to document her journey, sharing updates on her home's condition. In yet another video, she provided a "full house update" to her followers.

"Our house, formerly known as the 'filthy council house,' or the 'messiest house on TikTok,' now don't get me wrong, it's still quite messy and it looks like a work site at the moment, which is annoying. But it looks a hell of a lot better, so here is our full house update," she said, showing glimpses of the improved living space.

Despite the visible progress, Nicole acknowledged that trolls continued to report her to social services.

"For all of you trolls that keep calling social services and calling the police, this is what our house currently looks like. A normal well lived in, loved home. A small UK council house with six people inside of it. I hope this video gives some of you trolls a bit of reassurance that our kids are not neglected," she stated.

In another clip, Nicole addressed accusations that she was failing her children by distinguishing between a dirty and a messy house.

The West Sussex resident said there were days when it took her some time to pick up the toys, fold the clothes, or do laundry, but that did not mean her house was covered in dirt or grime and unfit for living.

"How can people tell me I'm failing my children? My children are fed, clothed, and clean. They have every toy they could ask for, all their needs are met. I won't stand for anyone saying this to me over a bit of a mess in my house," said Nicole.

Nicole's frustration with the relentless trolling and reports to social services was palpable. In a short video, she responded directly to the person who reported her, showcasing her children playing happily.

"My house may be a mess, my mental health might be all over the place, my life might be a rollercoaster but my kids are my life. And there is nothing in this world that could make me neglect them. How anyone can think that is beyond me," she asserted.

One person wrote, "I see very happy, beautiful children. That person should be ashamed of themselves, taking resources away from kids who actually need it. Hope your okay ❤️ [sic]." Another commented, "Try your hardest to just ignore them. You know you're a great mum."

"A messy house shows a happy house and shows you have fun there and someone lives there a house filled with love a clean house is a show house just to look at not to play in [sic]," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said, "They look perfectly healthy and happy to me good job momma [sic]." "You proved them wrong momma keep going 🥰[sic]," claimed a fifth.

Nicole's story is a testament to the complexities of modern parenting and the scrutiny that comes with sharing one's life online. While the negative attention from trolls led to an invasive police visit, it also highlighted the supportive community that rallied around her.
