Anna Nicole Smith & Larry Birkhead's Daughter, 17, Surprises Fans with Dark Hair Transformation

Dannielynn Birkhead has fans swooning over her new dark hair that she was seen sporting at a convention. She went to the event with her dad, whom the public praised as an amazing parent.

Yesterday, on August 27, Larry Birkhead gave his Instagram followers glimpses of what he and the late and great Anna Nicole Smith's beloved daughter got up to on the weekend. The eye-catching photos he shared of their time at an event that underscored Dannielynn Birkhead's love for anime depict the teen with striking new hair.

Cosplaying as three different characters from "Kamen Rider," Larry and Anna's 17-year-old daughter got to meet a few of her favorite Japanese live-action actors at Power Morphicon in Pasadena.

Her first look as the character Hino Eiji featured edgy dark brown hair that had red and platinum blonde highlights. With this hair, Dannielynn rocked a colorful t-shirt, maroon pants, a dark blue poncho, wristbands, and a red, black, gold, and green plastic bird-style claw on her right hand.

In her second look, Dannielynn transformed into Ankh. For this ensemble, the young lady changed her dark hair to a light orange color, with the locks fashioned into tight curls instead of the previous jagged haircut.

Dressing as Ankh, Dannielynn wore the same plastic bird claw from her first costume and paired it with a black shirt over a white one, red pants, and Doc Marten-inspired boots.

According to her dad, the last look featured Dannielynn dressed as "Ankh possessing Eiji from the 'Kamen Rider OOO 10th: Core Medal of Resurrection' movie."

"Had an awesome time at this weekend's @officialpowermorphicon in Pasadena, California thanks to @tokuspirits! Dannielynn [...] was so excited to meet @maaaaaaaasahiro (Masahiro Inoue) that plays 'Decade' from 'Kamen Rider Decade' that she was overcome with joy," read a part of Larry's caption.

"She was also excited to meet @yuikoike_official (Gokai Pink) and @ozawa_ryota (Gokai Red) from 'Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger' @yasuhisa_furuhara0813 (Go-on Red) from 'Engine Sentai Go-Onger' was her other favorites! [...] This is the first stop and pre-celebration for Dannielynn's upcoming birthday celebration! The countdown begins now!" continued Larry in his message.

After thanking other people and organizations that made it possible for him and his daughter to attend the event, Larry hinted that he and Dannielynn might be headed to Japan next, at the end of his caption.

People who saw the fun times the father-daughter duo had at Power Morphicon took to the comment section of Larry's post to express how beautiful Dannielynn looked with her different hair.

They also compared her to her late mom. Additionally, someone said that the hairstyle made her look more like her dad, who they praised as a good father.

"What a special experience for her!! What fun! I have to say… she looks like you with the short and dark hair (I know it's just a wig) :-) But we all know she is her momma's 'mini me'!! Enjoy and safe travels to your next adventure! Thanks for sharing! You're a great daddy!" expressed a fan.

Another gushed, "She couldn't be any cuter!!! ❤️🖤." "Oh my gosh, these pictures are adorable! You are the best dad. And holy moly, that dark hair on her looks gorgeous. Those eyes pop just like her sweet Mom's did," swooned an admirer.

Chiming in with another comment, someone else said, "I love that she is able to be herself and not expected to be her mom." "What a beauty with black hair! [Wow]!!" exclaimed another observer.

"Love her hair! I can't believe she's all grown up. Seems like she was just a baby. Good job, Daddy. She turned out beautiful. Inside and out," praised a fan.

Dannielynn's recent cosplay experience isn't the first time the teenager has dressed up as her favorite characters from Japanese live-action shows.

Just last year, an Instagram post from Dannielynn's father revealed that she went as Oni Sister from "Avatoro Sentai Donbrothers"—another favorite show of hers—to go trick or treating on Halloween.

Stepping in again as a doting father, Larry revealed that he had made his daughter's outfit from scratch based on a 3D model. He did so after finding out, in the nick of time, that stores were not selling the costume that Dannielynn wanted.

"It is the first time I attempted that before, but I figure we are approaching the end of the trick-or-treating phase (or maybe not) so I told her I would try my best. Hours and hours later, I think we got a decent version of her favorite character, that she has reminded me numerous times is 'not a Power Ranger!'" expressed Larry on November 1, 2023.

In May of this year (2024), Dannielynn attended the Kentucky Derby with her dad in a dress that was inspired by one of the same characters she emulated at the recent anime convention. She wore a unique red dress with ruffled shoulder pads.

"Dannielynn's dress was inspired by her favorite character Hino Eiji, Kamen Rider OOO TajaDor combo -she made me write that 😆 -because that character had the same shoulders as the design of the dress she found! 🤷‍♂️" captioned Larry alongside photos of him and Dannielynn.

Ahead of the Kentucky Derby, where Dannielynn Birkhead was seen rocking her red dress, she and Larry Birkhead attended the Barnstable Brown Gala. The 17-year-old's appearance at this event quickly caught the attention of netizens, who felt that her look was a little too much for her age.

From pictures shared by her father on Instagram, Dannielynn was seen rocking an all-black look that Larry revealed was one of music superstar Janet Jackson's outfits. He got it for Dannielynn at the music icon's charity auction.

Coupled with her Janet ensemble, Dannielynn donned some makeup, including a chic smoky eye and pink lipstick. To finish off her look, the adolescent styled her blonde tresses in loose curls.

"Looking forward to a fun Derby weekend with the newly graduated high school student! 🐎 👩‍🎓," wrote Dannielynn's dad, emphasizing the wonderful time they were set to have. However, far from being fussed about the event, many people were focused on Dannielynn's appearance.

The teen's makeup, done by a makeup artist named Rick Bancroft, sparked a flurry of online comments. "Too much makeup for a 17 year old!" chastised a social media user. Another user made the same comment about Dannielynn wearing a lot of makeup and added that it was "hiding her natural beauty!"

Agreeing with the previous assertions, another person expressed, "Way [too] much [...] for a young girl." "I think they are trying to make her look like her mom. Let her be 17," stated an Instagrammer.

Although many felt that Dannielynn's makeup was inappropriate for her age, some people showered her with compliments. However, even among the compliments some gave, they still echoed the collective sentiment of the young beauty's look being too grown up.

"Doesn't even need much makeup. Especially the eyebrows," someone said. "Sweetheart, great job, however very heavy," commented another social media user who saw the pictures of Dannielynn.

Among the many comments about Dannielynn being too young for the makeup she wore, a fan gushed, "Omg I almost thought it was her mom sitting there for a moment. So beautiful. Congratulations on graduating high school."

Apart from inheriting her mom's beauty, Dannielynn has also adopted her late mother's style in some instances. According to Larry, his daughter sometimes wears her mom's old clothes that he kept in storage for her.

"There's some t-shirts and different things she fits in [...] There's also some things that would have to wait till later. Some things are a bit more revealing and low-cut. Plus, she was a variety of sizes, so she's got every size covered that you can imagine," Larry divulged last year (2023).

However, he also made it clear that there are some items of clothing that Dannielynn has no interest in. "There's also some things that she'll say 'Dad, no thanks, that's not my style,'" he disclosed.

From her dad's statements, it's clear that while Dannielynn may emulate some aspects of her mom's fashion sense, the teenager has her own sense of style.

As a proud dad, Larry has taken several opportunities to boast about his beloved daughter and what a "great kid" she is. Aside from the comic convention and the Kentucky Derby, Larry, who once mentioned that he "can't believe" Dannielynn "is old enough to drive," was seen spending time with his daughter earlier this year (2024).
