Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater Split After Two Years of Dating
The pair have quietly parted ways after a relationship that began on the set of "Wicked." Sources say the split was amicable and has been kept under wraps for months.
Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have quietly gone their separate ways, sources confirm. The former couple are said to have ended their relationship months ago, though news of the breakup has only recently come to light.

"It's amicable, they gave lots of time and careful consideration and decided to go their separate ways," a source told PEOPLE. "They are still friends and very supportive of one another. They have been quietly broken up for several months."
Grande and Slater were first romantically linked in 2023 after meeting on the set of "Wicked," where Grande played Glinda opposite Slater's portrayal of Boq.

Their relationship got off to a controversial start as reports of the romance surfaced while both were going through divorces from their respective partners. The timing sparked months of backlash, leading the pair to keep a low profile.
Grande eventually addressed the controversy in a September 2024 Vanity Fair cover interview. "Of course, I went through a lot of life changes during the filming of this movie," she said of working on "Wicked."
"A lot of people that were working on it did. We were away for two years. So, of course, I understand why it was a field day for the tabloids to sort of create something that paid their bills."
While she said she would never get into certain details about her relationship with Slater, she added, "The most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of it. That was definitely a tough ride."
The following month, the pair made their relationship Instagram official and appeared together at multiple promotional events for "Wicked" and "Wicked: For Good" over the next year and a half — all while still keeping things relatively private.

In the wake of the split, Grande is said to be "doing great" and has been channeling her energy into her Eternal Sunshine Tour, which kicked off on June 6. The "Dangerous Woman" singer is also set to release her upcoming album, "Petal," on July 31.
"She's seemed very happy. It's all been very positive vibes," another source told the outlet. "Being able to reconnect with fans after so many years made her very excited."
Grande last toured in 2019, and the insider noted that she was "all about work" this spring to get her show ready. "She's been wanting to give her fans an amazing show and has put so much work into the show," the source added. "Kicking off her tour was very emotional for her."
Her first single from the forthcoming album, "Hate That I Made You Love Me," dropped in May and recently became her 10th No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
A third source says the record is not about her relationship with Slater. The "Wicked" star shared in a May Instagram reel that "Petal" is about ridding herself of "negative attachments, whether it's my own monsters in my own head, external voices, [or] things that no longer serve me."
"I could be talking about one thing, sharing something, and people could use it however they want and apply it to their own lives," she said.
