Taylor Swift is making history. At 36, the "Cruel Summer" singer has become the youngest woman ever to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the second youngest person overall behind the legendary Steve Wonder.

The ceremony took place on Thursday, June 11, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Though they skipped the red carpet, Swift was joined inside by her parents Andrea and Scott Swift, her brother Austin Swift, fiancé Travis Kelce, and future mother-in-law Donna Kelce.

Needless to say, she arrived in style. Swift cut a striking figure on the red carpet in a strapless Givenchy gown adorned with richly detailed floral embroidery — oversized blooms in blush pink, cream, red, and gold scattered across dark fabric.

The gown's standout detail was its ruched and draped hip, where the satin gathered to one side before flowing into a thigh-high front slit.

She accessorized with amber-toned drop earrings in a gold setting, a delicate diamond tennis bracelet, and an emerald ring on her left hand, completing the look with strappy black stiletto sandals.

She wore her hair in a soft, loosely pinned updo with wispy face-framing bangs. Her makeup leaned into classic Hollywood glamour, with her signature bold red lips, a defined cat-eye, and light blush.

Swift's induction was delivered by none other than Steven Spielberg, and the singer marked the occasion with an emotional 20-minute acceptance speech.

She spoke of her lifelong passion for songwriting and the sacrifices her family made to help her pursue her dreams:

"If I look back at my entire 23-year career in music, the ups and downs, the industry battles, the trials and tribulations, the tears and the cheers, and the dog piling of doubt, the criticisms of fair and unfair, the complete loss of privacy, the world tours and the ego wars and the twists of fate, the absolute magical chaos of this path that I chose when I was too young to remember it ever being a choice at all: songwriting was the easiest thing I ever did."

Swift went on to explain that songwriting felt instinctual. "No one taught me how to do it," she said, noting that she had to learn through "massive amounts of trial and error."

Fighting back tears, she turned her gratitude toward her family.

"It was easy to choose songwriting over everything else in my life," she said, "but it couldn't have been easy for my parents and my brother to pick up and move our entire family from Pennsylvania to relocate to Nashville, so that I could hone my craft in the songwriting capital of the world… they uprooted their entire lives to move me to music city."

"Even though words are kind of supposed to be my thing, I'll never be able to express my gratitude to you guys for doing that for me. You're the reason I'm here tonight," she added.

Swift had personally asked Spielberg to present her induction. The celebrated director paid tribute in his own speech, saying,

"Taylor Swift continues to fulfill her destiny as the most successful female artist not just of her time, but of all time. Tonight is a recognition that while she wrote 'you belong with me,' in the most profound way, we belong to her."

Singer-songwriter Sombr, whom Swift has praised as one of the best young songwriters of his generation, opened the induction segment with performances of her classics "Cardigan" and "Dear John."

Beyond Swift, this year's inductees included Kenny Loggins, Alanis Morissette, KISS's Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, Tricky Stewart, Graham Lyle, Terry Britten, and Walter Afanasieff.

John Fogerty received the Johnny Mercer Award, a prestigious lifetime achievement honor reserved for those already enshrined in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
