Jane Seymour and John Zambetti's engagement story is as romantic as it is laugh-out-loud funny — complete with a flying ring and a naked rescue mission.

Jane Seymour, 75, and her partner of nearly three years, John Zambetti, are officially engaged. The couple confirmed the news in a joint interview after Seymour was spotted wearing a ring on her left hand at several public events earlier this month.

The proposal itself was anything but conventional — but the heart behind it was unmistakable. Speaking to People, the pair opened up about the moment they decided to make things official.

Zambetti, an emergency room physician, was drawn to the ring he chose for its distinctive design: two stones rather than the traditional one.

The piece is a vintage-style toi et moi ring, featuring two clusters of old-cut diamonds — each with a larger central stone surrounded by smaller ones — set on a curved yellow gold band.

"I saw this one ring that really spoke to me," Zambetti said. "Because it had two stones in it. I mean, normally an engagement ring would be one stone, but I like the fact that it had two stones, and they had a little pavé path leading up to each stone."

The symbolism wasn't lost on him. "I thought, like, it's the two of us together, and there's our past lives each leading up to us being together," he shared.

Despite the couple already having committed to building a life together, Zambetti felt compelled to do things properly. "I'm just kind of old school," he explained. "I don't like this partner talk. To me, we're not forming a law firm."

He briefly entertained a more elaborate scheme — one that involved Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger. The plan would have had Jagger secretly hold the ring during a dinner with him and Seymour, then dramatically produce it at just the right moment.

"I started thinking, what I'll do is Mick will come over with his wife. I'll give him the ring. And then I'll propose and say ...I don't have a ring. And Mick will go like, 'Oh, I have a ring,'" he recalled. "All these crazy things, right? Which are totally preposterous."

In the end, Zambetti skipped the theatrics and proposed at their Malibu home — getting down on both knees. What followed, however, was pure comedy.

As he opened the box, the ring launched itself onto the bed. He scrambled to retrieve it, crawling underneath — and promptly got stuck. "Then I had to climb under the bed, and then I couldn't get out, and she had to get out of the bed and pull me out of the bed," Zambetti said.

Seymour was happy to fill in the rest. "And we weren't wearing any clothes," she added cheekily. "Serious bedhead involved. But the funniest part was that he couldn't get up afterwards."

"His knee was now stuck from being under the bed and I'm not strong enough to pull him up because he weighs almost twice what I do," Seymour continued. "We looked at one another and started laughing hysterically."

The couple will mark three years together this August. They were set up by their respective children after crossing paths at a Shwayze concert.

Zambetti, who has two children, was previously married for 43 years before his wife passed away. Seymour has been married and divorced four times and has six children, including stepchildren.
