Bryon Noem's Family Explains Why He Didn't Leave Her Despite the Corey Lewandowski 'Humiliation'

As a public scandal shakes their marriage, members of the extended family of Bryon Noem say he believes it is his religious duty to remain by his wife's side.

Bryon Noem's relatives are offering insight into the state of his marriage to Kristi Noem. Some believe he would have reason to leave after reports of an alleged affair with a senior official embarrassed him. Even so, they do not expect him to walk away from Kristi, his wife of more than 30 years.

Relatives Reveal the Faith Keeping Him in the Marriage

Members of the extended family of Bryon say many of them have long been aware of the allegations surrounding Kristi's relationship with political adviser Corey Lewandowski, a situation that became widely publicized in 2023.

According to relatives, there is concern that Bryon may continue to remain in the marriage because of his deep religious beliefs and commitment to the vows he made.

One family member suggested that his decision is rooted in faith, saying, "I think it's him honoring the calling from God. But it seems like there would be some limit to that."

The same relative said Bryon had spoken years ago about feeling a spiritual responsibility to support Kristi in whatever path she chose.

The family member recalled that Bryon had described this sense of duty roughly two decades earlier, explaining that he believed God had called him to stand by his wife. "So he has put up with the humiliation. We will see if he sticks with her now," they noted.

Speculation about Kristi and Corey's relationship intensified in 2023 when reports surfaced alleging the pair had carried on a long-running affair. A Daily Mail investigation claimed it uncovered extensive indications of a romantic relationship between the two.

According to the report, Kristi and Corey allegedly took numerous trips together that blended professional commitments with personal time. These included flights aboard donors' private aircraft and stays at luxury resorts where their closeness reportedly drew attention.

One staffer in Pierre, South Dakota's capital, described the situation as confusing for colleagues. He said, "We often had no idea where she was, or even if she was in state or out of state, she would simply disappear."

Eyewitnesses Recall Flirtation at Political Gathering

Former Donald's associate Charles Johnson later shared that he had witnessed what he described as flirtatious behavior between Kristi and Corey in August 2020. This was during the meeting of the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) at The Cloister resort on Sea Island, Georgia.

Charles also told Daily Mail that he saw Kristi subtly take Corey's hand and place it in her lap while he put his arm around her back. In Charles's view, the pair appeared to be romantically involved despite both being married to other people at the time.

Two additional attendees at the RAGA gathering also recalled noticing what they considered unusually open displays of affection between Kristi and Corey.

A conservative political strategist who attended the event said many people were talking about the pair after seeing them head off together for a lengthy walk along the beach.

Private Moments and Public Whispers on the Campaign Trail

Another moment that drew attention reportedly occurred in 2019 during AMPFest, a recurring MAGA-aligned gathering held at one of Donald's properties in Miami.

A former official from the Trump Administration said the two spent so much time together in secluded areas during the event that the official concluded they were romantically involved.

The same official said he encountered the pair multiple times while driving a golf cart to a remote building on the property where Corey and other VIP guests were staying.

"I had met Corey a few times, but that was the first time I saw Kristi," he recalled. "I told Corey it was nice to meet his wife. He looked at me and said, 'That's not my wife.'"

In the months leading up to the 2020 presidential election, Kristi and Corey were frequently seen together on Trump's campaign trail.

According to political insiders, their closeness had become widely known within the White House as well as among Republican lobbyists and consultants. "It became a joke," said the Trump Administration employee who had first seen them at AMPFest.

Despite the claims circulating at the time, Kristi's spokesman Ian Fury strongly denied the allegations, insisting the two had never had an affair.

Corey, who married Alison Hardy, a widow of the September 11 attacks, in 2005 and shares four children with her, did not publicly respond to the accusations.

Family Shock as She Refuses to Deny the Allegations

The issue resurfaced publicly on March 4 when Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove of California questioned Kristi. During a congressional session, Sydney asked her about rumors involving Corey, who serves as her adviser and a "special government employee."

Bryon reportedly stepped out of the briefing shortly before the pointed questioning began. During the exchange, Kristi declined to directly deny the rumored relationship with Corey.

One relative said Bryon appeared intent on supporting his wife by remaining present during part of the tense political scrutiny. However, the family member hoped the tough questions might also force him to confront the situation more directly.

"I actually liked that he sat behind her while she was grilled on the ICE atrocities. I think he's ignored the reality. Maybe he has to face it now," the person said.

Another family member described the unfolding controversy as startling and expressed hope that the public attention might lead Bryon to reassess the circumstances of his marriage. "What gets me is she couldn't say no. When she's getting grilled about it, she couldn't say no," the relative exclaimed.

That same relative said they believe Bryon's strong Christian faith and his devotion to his family could ultimately keep the marriage intact despite the controversy.

The family member added that Bryon views marriage as a lifelong commitment and remains deeply connected to the couple's three children. "I'm sure this is really hard on them," the relative added.

Relatives now say tensions between Kristi and Bryon's extended family have existed for years. Some family members claim the relationship has been strained, alleging that Kristi does not get along with Bryon's relatives.

Political Fallout as Her Career Faces a Sudden Shift

Amid the ongoing scrutiny, Kristi is expected to exit from her role at the Department of Homeland Security at the end of March. Sources said her responses regarding Corey were considered the final tipping point for Donald.

Donald subsequently moved Kristi from her position as DHS secretary, assigning her to a newly created role after she was removed from overseeing the department.

During the Shield of the Americas summit in Florida on Saturday, March 7, outgoing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem publicly thanked Donald for giving her the opportunity to serve in the new position as special envoy for the Shield of the Americas.

She seemed to hold no resentment toward the president and expressed pride in the work carried out by the department under her leadership. Kristi said that the agency had strengthened border security and addressed public safety concerns.

"I do want to thank the president for creating this and for giving me the honor and the opportunity to serve as a special envoy to this region, to the Western Hemisphere. This Shield of the Americas will be a powerful example to the rest of the world about what’s possible," she declared.
