Kris Jenner Marks Her Mother MJ’s Birthday Days After Her Death

It's been an emotional stretch for the Kardashian-Jenner family as they navigate life without their beloved matriarch. Kris chose to honor the milestone with a heartfelt look back rather than let the day pass unmarked.

Kris Jenner is honoring her late mother, Mary Jo Campbell — affectionately known as MJ — on what would have been a special milestone. More than a week after the family matriarch passed away, the momager took to social media to celebrate MJ's 92nd birthday posthumously.

Kris shared a carousel of throwback photos capturing MJ at past birthday celebrations, surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In the opening image, MJ beams in a close-up shot, wearing a colorful floral-print blazer decorated with red, pink, and orange roses set against a black background. Her hair falls in her signature, bouncy bob with soft bangs, and she accessorizes with a small gold cross necklace and drop earrings.

"Happy Heavenly Birthday Mommy," Kris captioned the July 26 post. "I love you. 🤍"

She followed up with a photo of her and MJ posing on either side of a small round table draped in a white tablecloth, topped with a cake decorated in pink, red, yellow, and orange roses that mirror MJ's outfit.

The wider shot revealed her full ensemble: a vibrant floral-print suit featuring red, orange, pink, and yellow blooms accented with green foliage against a black backdrop.

Kris, meanwhile, also looked elegant in a floor-length dress featuring a black, white, and cream abstract print, layered with a matching cardigan draped over her shoulders.

A third snapshot captured the mother-daughter duo locked in an embrace during that same celebration.

Kris had previously broken the news of MJ's death in an emotional tribute on July 16, 2026. While she didn't disclose the cause, she opened up about how deeply the early grief had affected her.

"There are no words that could ever capture what she has meant to me or the heartbreak of having to say goodbye," Kris wrote at the time.

"My mom was the heart of our family. She taught me everything that truly matters… to love your family fiercely, to be kind, to show up for the people you love, and to never take a single moment together for granted."

She continued, "She taught us that family is everything. She showed us how to love unconditionally and how to find joy in the little moments. She showed me how to face life's challenges with resilience and faith."

MJ welcomed Kris with engineer Robert Houghton in 1955, and the couple went on to have daughter Karen Houghton in 1958. After she and Robert split, MJ later married businessman Harry Shannon, remaining with him until his death in a car crash in 2003.

The mother of two went on to found the San Diego children's boutique Shannon & Co. in 1980. She also became a familiar face on the family's long-running reality series "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

Over the course of her many appearances on the show, MJ cultivated her own devoted fanbase, thanks to her sassy one-liners and no-nonsense wisdom.

She often poked fun at her family's lavish lifestyles and spoke candidly about surviving cancer twice, a resilience her loved ones deeply admired.

Born in 1934, MJ is survived by Kris, granddaughters Kourtney, Kim, and Khloé Kardashian, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, grandson Rob Kardashian, and several great-grandchildren. Her daughter Karen died of cardiac arrest in March 2024 at age 65.
