In a statement, Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, described Goodall as "a visionary humanitarian, scientist, friend to the planet, and friend to us." They recalled how she once held their son, Archie, as a newborn, noting that her compassion extended both publicly and privately.

Harry first met Goodall in December 2018, when he invited her to Kensington Palace to discuss environmental issues. She was later recognized for her life's work in 2004, when Harry’s father, now King Charles, made her a Dame.
