1. Princess Kate's Cancer Goes Into Remission
Princess Kate revealed that she was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in March 2024 after the public noticed she had stepped back from the limelight. That January, she had undergone a "major abdominal surgery."
At the time, it was understood that her condition was non-cancerous, and the surgery was successful. However, and the Princess shared, post-operative tests found that cancer had been present.
Her medical team then advised that she undergo a preventative course of chemotherapy, which she completed in September 2024. Then, in January 2025, she took to social media to announce that she was in remission.
"It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery," she wrote. "As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support."
2. Prince Harry Loses His Court Case over Security
In May, news broke that Prince Harry had lost his case regarding the level of security that he and his family are entitled to while in the U.K. The Duke of Sussex had been seeking to overturn a decision that reduced his security following his relocation with his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, to the United States.
The dispute began in 2020, when Harry and Meghan chose to step back from their royal responsibilities. Harry argued that the downgraded security was one of the primary reasons that prevented his wife and children from returning to the U.K., as he feared for their safety.
Unfortunately, despite his "powerful and moving" arguments, the judges ruled there was not sufficient reason or basis to overturn or reconsider the decision, as it had not been made unlawfully.

5. Prince Andrew Gives Up His Royal Titles
In a shocking move, Prince Andrew announced that he is relinquishing his royal titles amid accusations tying him to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. Buckingham Palace released a statement on October 17 on his behalf.
"In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family," Andrew began.
He continued, "I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life. With His Majesty's agreement, we feel I must now go a step further."

"I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me," he concluded.
According to People, removing Prince Andrew's titles will require an act of Parliament. His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson will no longer be the Duchess of York, but his daughter's titles, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will not be affected.
