On September 25, 2025, Francia Raisa, who famously donated a kidney to Selena Gomez in 2017, was asked about their friendship during an interview with Magaly Ortiz TV at a bookstore. The question was particularly poignant considering that she wasn't invited to the billionaire's nuptials with Benny Blanco.

While her conversation with several reporters focused mostly on Raisa's father, Renán Almendárez Coello, a famous radio personality with whom she's had a troubled relationship, one journalist also mentioned Raisa's "moment of bravery" when she donated a kidney to Gomez, wanting to know how things are for them today.

"You know what? I'm not going to talk about that right now, but I do know she's getting married, and I'm very happy for her, and well, look, she has a life, and she's already a billionaire, and I'm grateful that I was able to do that for her," Raisa answered.

Another reporter asked what the actress would suggest to other people considering organ donation.

"Look, from the beginning, the doctors told me, it's a donation," she replied, adding that no one should micromanage the things they donate. "It's something beautiful that I was able to do. I'm grateful that I could, that I'm alive and can say that I have saved a life."

In September 2017, Selena Gomez posted a photo of herself and Raisa lying on hospital beds. In the caption, the singer explained that her absence during that summer was due to getting a transplant because of Lupus complications.

She also thanked her doctors and family for their support, but especially Raisa for her "gift and sacrifice."
