Julia Fox’s Response to Backlash over Controversial Jackie Kennedy Halloween CostumeThe "Uncut Gems" star came under fire on Halloween night after stepping out in a blood-soaked Jackie Kennedy costume. The late former First Lady's grandson has since issued a response.
Julia Fox has spoken out after her Halloween costume sparked intense backlash this past week. The actress and model stepped out on Thursday, October 30, at "The Cursed Amulet" Halloween party in New York City.

For the evening, Julia was dressed in a vintage-inspired ensemble — a bubblegum-pink skirt suit with black trim and gold buttons, styled with a matching pillbox hat and white gloves. The outfit had red splatter-like stains on the jacket, skirt, and sheer tights.

Julia also incorporated blood stains in her makeup. She accessorized with a navy blue handbag and pointed heels, and completed the look with her hair styled in shoulder-length retro blowout.

The ensemble — which was an almost identical replica of Jackie Kennedy's outfit shortly after her husband, President John F. Kennedy's assassination in November 1963 — sparked a wave of criticism on social media.

"I'm not the sensitive type but I feel like that's a bit messed up. No class in that," one person wrote. "Very, very distasteful. Have some respect and compassion. ☹️," another urged.

"I feel like it's one thing to dress as Jackie. It's another to dress as her covered in her husband's blood ... [Expletive] is wrong with people," a third wondered. Even John and Jackie's grandson, Jack Schlossberg, expressed his disapproval on X.

"Julia Fox glorifying political violence is disgusting, desperate and dangerous. I'm sure her late grandmother would agree," he wrote. Shortly after photos of the costume went viral, Julia decided to provide some context.

"I'm dressed as Jackie Kennedy in the pink suit," she began in an Instagram post shared on Friday, October 31. "Not as a costume, but as a statement. When her husband was assassinated, she refused to change out of her blood-stained clothes, saying, 'I want them to see what they've done.'"
"The image of the delicate pink suit splattered with blood is one of the most haunting juxtapositions in modern history. Beauty and horror. Poise and devastation," Julia continued. "Her decision not to change clothes, even after being encouraged to, was an act of extraordinary bravery."

"It was performance, protest, and mourning all at once. A woman weaponizing image and grace to expose brutality. It's about trauma, power, and how femininity itself is a form of resistance. Long live Jackie O ♥️," she concluded.

"Despite these horrible circumstances, she was willing to stand for a photo because she understood what it meant for the nation to have continuity in government," historian Steve Gillion told People in 2022. "She understood that she had a role to play in helping the nation transition to a new president."

Julia's explanation for her reenactment of the chilling historical moment swayed some perspectives in her favor, but public sentiment remains largely critical.
