Tom Hanks Spotted Riding the Subway Just like Regular New Yorkers
Despite being a millionaire, the "Forrest Gump" actor was seen riding the subway, wearing something that has become rare these days.
Tom Hanks was spotted using public transportation earlier this week, as reported by the Daily Mail on October 7, 2025. The A-lister, known for some of the best movies in Hollywood, was standing and holding on to the train's handles.
During his outing, Hanks wore a beige jacket over a dark gray sweater and black pants, as well as a green New York Yankees cap. He was also carrying a bookbag, and his face was partially covered by clear-frame glasses and a face mask, something that has become uncommon in the years after COVID.
Despite this, many people recognized him and covertly took photos that circulated online. As a famous person, Hanks could easily use a car, but he's one of several celebrities, like Harrison Ford, who prefer to use the subway.
"I mean, driving in the city is a nightmare," one netizen commented regarding this sighting. Another wrote, "So brave," while someone else added, "Normally 👏."
This isn't the first time he has been spotted on public transportation. He was seen resting on a subway seat in January 2015. He was more bundled up back then because of the cold, but he still looked like a regular New Yorker.
