Kylie Jenner's Fear of the 'Met Gala Curse' Stopped Her From Attending with Timothée Chalamet
Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet have kept much of their relationship out of the spotlight, and according to a new report, there may be a superstitious reason behind one major public decision involving fashion’s biggest night.
Kylie Jenner reportedly stayed away from making a joint Met Gala appearance with boyfriend Timothée Chalamet because she feared the so-called “Met Gala curse” could affect their relationship.

According to Page Six, a source claimed the Kylie Cosmetics founder and the Oscar-nominated actor intentionally avoided attending the annual event together over concerns tied to the long-running celebrity breakup superstition.
“Kylie and Timothée intentionally avoided attending the Met Gala together these past few years because they didn’t want to risk the whole ‘Met Gala curse’ thing,” the insider told the outlet.

The source added that Jenner was especially cautious because of her own history attending the event with former partner Travis Scott before their eventual split.
“Kylie was especially superstitious about it after going to the Met with Travis [Scott] in 2018 and 2019 before they eventually split,” the source explained.

Kylie Jenner’s History With Travis Scott Fueled Concerns
Jenner and Scott first began dating in 2017. Their relationship quickly became one of the most talked-about celebrity romances, especially after they welcomed daughter Stormi in February 2018.
The former couple later expanded their family with the birth of son Aire in February 2022. Despite years of an on-and-off relationship, Jenner and Scott officially split in January 2023.

The Met Gala superstition has circulated online for years, with fans often pointing to celebrity couples who attended the high-profile event together before later breaking up.
Jenner reportedly did not want her relationship with Chalamet associated with that narrative.

“[She] just didn’t want that kind of bad luck attached to their relationship and wasn’t willing to take any chances,” the insider revealed to Page Six.
Jenner and Chalamet first sparked romance rumors in April 2023. Since then, the pair have largely kept their relationship low-key despite occasional public appearances together.

Timothée Chalamet Skipped the 2026 Met Gala
While Jenner attended the 2026 Met Gala solo, Chalamet spent the evening at Madison Square Garden watching the New York Knicks take on the Philadelphia 76ers.
The actor, who is known to be a longtime Knicks fan, shared an Instagram Story showing his courtside view during the playoff matchup.
The Knicks also posted footage of Chalamet greeting fellow fan Tracy Morgan during the game.

Chalamet has not attended the Met Gala since 2021, and his decision to skip this year’s event drew attention online, especially as Jenner walked the carpet alone.
Meanwhile, Jenner made a major fashion statement at the gala in a Schiaparelli gown that quickly generated headlines.
The heavily embellished look featured pearls throughout the design along with a dramatic train. The front of the gown included a nude illusion corset with faux nipples, a belly button detail and sculpted body contours.
Jenner was one of several members of the Kardashian-Jenner family to attend the event this year.

The 'Met Gala Curse' Has Followed Celebrity Couples for Years
The idea of a “Met Gala curse” has become a recurring topic among pop culture fans after several celebrity relationships ended following joint appearances at the event.
Jenner’s own family has already been linked to the theory.

Her sister Kim Kardashian attended the Met Gala with then-boyfriend Pete Davidson in May 2022. The pair split just three months later in August of that year.
Other celebrity couples have also been pulled into the conversation over the years.
Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx, who had reportedly been together since 2013, made headlines when they appeared together publicly at the Met Gala in 2019. They split weeks later.

Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long also attended the event together in May 2015 after dating for two years. Their relationship ended four months later.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth became another example often cited by fans. The former couple attended the Met Gala together in May 2019 during their decade-long relationship and less than a year after getting married. They announced their separation just months later in August 2019.
Although many fans treat the so-called curse as a joke, the superstition has remained a regular topic online whenever celebrity couples appear together at the annual fashion event.

Jenner and Chalamet Continue to Keep Relationship Private
Despite global interest in their relationship, Jenner and Chalamet have largely avoided turning their romance into a public spectacle.
While Jenner attended fashion’s biggest night this year, Chalamet’s choice to spend the evening courtside at a Knicks playoff game instead highlighted how differently the couple approached the event.

For now, the pair appear focused on keeping their relationship away from unnecessary pressure and public scrutiny, especially when it comes to a superstition that continues to follow celebrity couples every year at the Met Gala.
