In December 2023, Jennifer Garner walked viewers through her daily beauty routine while discussing the products, habits, and self-care philosophies she relies on most.

Throughout the routine, the actress emphasized practicality over perfection, revealing how her relationship with beauty evolved over the years and why sunscreen remains one of her biggest priorities.

Jennifer Garner Says Her Routine Is All About Speed

Garner admitted early in the routine that she prefers to move through skincare and makeup as quickly as possible. "Pretty much I'm getting it done as quickly as possible," she said.

"Any kind of skincare, any kind of self-care, it's like..." the actress shared before imitating the sound of a rocket ship blasting off.

The actress began with a double cleanse using a cleansing balm and Neutrogena face wash before moving into exfoliation and hydration, explaining that hyaluronic acid has become an important part of her routine because of its moisturizing benefits.

"It brings and locks moisture at the surface of your skin," Garner said. "So it adds like a layer of poof." She later applied moisturizer and sunscreen, stressing the importance of SPF protection after years of sun exposure.

"Nothing looks better in your 50s than sunscreen in your 20s," she added. The actress also revealed that struggles with hormonal acne when she was younger helped spark her long-term interest in skincare.

The Makeup Lessons Jennifer Garner Learned During the Pandemic

Garner described herself as someone who never considered herself especially skilled at doing makeup before the pandemic changed that.

During lockdown, she said she began participating in virtual makeup tutorials with hairstylist Adir Abergel and makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua while preparing for press appearances over Zoom.

"They would be laughing at me so hard, because I would have no idea what was going on," Garner recalled. Still, she said the experience permanently changed the way she approaches makeup.

"For example, I now know the importance of a bronzer," she said while applying Chanel bronzer to both her face and neck. "You gotta do the neck, you don't wanna look like a Popsicle."

Garner also shared her love for blush, joking that she applies it generously because "it's my face, party if I want." Among the products she highlighted were Westman Atelier's foundation stick and mascara, Chanel brow products, Stila blush, and an Hermès lipstick she jokingly called her "indulgence."

Her Advice for Confidence and Self-Esteem

Toward the end of the routine, Garner shifted the conversation away from beauty products and toward confidence and self-worth. The actress encouraged people to focus less on appearance and more on how they treat others.

"If you want to have self-esteem, do esteemable things," she said. Garner explained that small acts of kindness and showing up for other people can help build confidence over time.

"Focus out more than in," she said. "Focus on what you're doing for other people." The actress also shared a few final beauty favorites, including Byredo's "Gypsy Water" fragrance and Virtue hair products, which she said help smooth flyaways and leave hair smelling "like a little angel."

By the end of the routine, Jennifer Garner made it clear that while beauty products can be fun, her overall philosophy remains centered on simplicity, confidence, and feeling comfortable in her own skin.
